Puerto Rico Ruined Grid, De Nuestro Amigo Tomas

Puerto Rico's ruined electric grid, from Hurricane Maria, is shown in these pics of San Juan on Friday, sent to us from our friend (and occasional Public Utilities Fortnightly author) Tomás Torres. Tomás is executive director of the Institute of Competitiveness and Economic Sustainability of Puerto Rico.

From this devastation, the people of Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory, are doing without refrigeration, modern cooking and water supply, air-conditioning, lighting, cell phones, etc. In these pics, you can see that the transmission and distribution system is as broken as the felled concrete pole. See the Facebook album here.
