Andrew Phillips on Resilience

An excerpt from EPRI’s VP-T&D, Andrew Phillips:

“Electrification is increasing, and the dependence of society on electricity is going to continue to increase. But counter to that is we’re changing the resource mix to more variable generation to meet our climate goals. Plus, cybersecurity threats or more extreme weather events due to climate change may affect the system. The grid requires more reliability due to increased electrification, and then the opposite side is the system is getting more complex and as the threats are increasing, it’s a tough balance.”
